[the night is young, the city is full of oddities, and there is a Monster sitting on Tabby's shoulders, clinging to her head like he's afraid he'll fall off. he also does his best to hide behind her hair when someone passes by, looking at everyone like they've got lobsters crawling out of their ears.

he is not used to people, okay.]

[he fidgets a little when his hand gets swatted away, but he goes right into pointing at some of the people passing by. his face is no longer shifting.]

The people. The fleshy ones, uhm...

[she hopes the fact that his face is acting solid now is a good thing. It's less creepy, anyway.]

[...a bit of a snort] 'Voices' is probably the last thing I'd call them.

[he ends up sticking that finger in his mouth. at least he can't chew on it, I guess.]

[he smiles a little, wobbling back and forth while he hums something in his head (that... she can hear, since he thinks in other people's brains and all). then he manages, sounding a little like it's rehearsed...]

Humans are trash. They will act without remorse~ And so we do before they do unto us, because the ones bound in flesh are but lambs and there's enough to go around.

[he looks very pleased when he finishes that little blurb, there.]

[first, she looks the kind of surprised that might be a little like impressed. But then, as Monster goes on, something abruptly changes. Like she recognizes this.

She's fixing him with a very sharp look, all of the sudden]

...Where the fuck did you get something like that?

That's what He says. Mrrm, Monster's Dad. He always says things like that.

[he looks at Tabby, then... reaches up to try patting her hair.]

Monster doesn't know if it's true. Monster has only met the little ones! They are nice to him, so he does not mind them very much.

[but then he looks away, frowning a little.]

The big ones taste really good, though.

[she's still a little unsettled--something to think about later, maybe--but Monster manages to reassure her quite a bit otherwise. Something about the the hair-patting, and seeming like he really isn't as indoctrinated as he sounded for a second there, and... well, she really can't argue with that last part.]

They're just... useless. And dangerous. So... no eating anybody here, since you have a choice about it.

'Kaaay.

[he stretches. Monster is a good monster and won't eat anyone. C:]

[well, at least he's good about listening.]

Hey, you wanna go explore some more?

[now that... y'know... he has bones]

[he seems much more okay about this now!]

Where are we going, Tabby Mom?

[awesome, maybe she won't get her hair pulled this time]

I dunno. That's why it's called exploring.

[standing up on the wall, she stretches]

Ex-plor-ing~! ♪

[he hops up and clambers his way up her side and onto her back. his clinging is quite effective.]

Jesus--!

[she wasn't expecting to be climbed while standing on a wall. He's not exactly the heaviest thing ever, but he still almost throws off her balance and makes them both fall. Thankfully, she manages to save them with a little bit of flailing]

...Warn me the next time you're going to do that.

[and then, once she's sure she can do so without landing on her face, she'll hop back down to the street with her little monster backpack]

Oh, Monster's sorry. He'll say next time!

[he makes himself comfortable with all the jostling back there. he's still hiding behind her hair here and there, but with less severity. if Tabby says he won't get in trouble, he will believe her!]

...oh! Monster just remembered. The nice Viola Lady gave Monster another name.

[just strollin' along with a monster on her back. this is all so super normal.]

A name? ...Whats a viola lady?

Viola Lady has shiny grey hair and pretty eyes and she is really nice to Monster. She likes kitties and drew pictures with Monster, too. And, and, she says Monster isn't a good name because Monster is only half a monster because the other bit is all funny and he forgets the rest of what he was going to say.

[...and for a moment it would seem that he really has forgotten where he was going with that, as there's a little mental noise from his end. humming. kind of like towels in a dryer.]

Oh, Viola Lady says his name can be Ash, if he wants.

[having Monster babble in her head makes her feel even more easily distracted than usual. She pauses on a corner... where the hell was she going again--?]

Ash, huh? You like that name?

[bandagesplz]

Monster likes having two names.

[he reaches clumsily up to pat at her hair again. he may be confusing it for her actual head.]

But Tabby Mom can still call him Monster.

Oh, goody.

[she doesn't mind the hair-patting. It's probably less bothering than a real head-pat would be.

She continues walking, picking a new destination since she can't remember her original idea]

...You were supposed to stop calling me that, remember?

[...a small whiny sound.]

Maybe Monster is not good with names.

[suddenly, Monster has turned into a brown, leather pack. he's hanging off of her shoulders just like before, but his arms are... well, straps now. he weighs about the same (not enough) as before, too.

and it would be a perfect disguise if not for the slight shuffling and mental giggling coming from the thing.]
