[...okay, who thought this was a good idea again?]

I swear to god, Monster. If you pull my hair one more time...

[oh, whatever. She clambers up onto the nearest low wall, and tries to just detach him from her shoulders]

[he at least detaches fairly easily, slowly sliding off of her back as if he's suddenly lost the ability to have a skeletal structure. he flops down onto the wall, where he hangs over it on his stomach like a rag.]

Mrmm.

[perching like a gargoyle, glancing over at him-- so unimpressed.]

...This really isn't that bad. You're being a baby.

He says Monster's not supposed to go outside.

[he slides backwards a little so that he's hanging off the wall, fingers clutching the edge. at least he looks like he has more bones now, but his face seems to flicker a little every time he looks at someone for too long. he's subconsciously taking on their appearances.]

Sometimes Monster does and he gets in bi--ig trouble. Grown-ups aren't supposed to see Monster.

Yeah, well 'he' isn't here, is he?

[watching Monster's little weirdnesses out of the corner of her eye]

Besides, everybody should learn how to get around the city. It's an important skill to have.

[his hands momentarily turn into something more claw-like as he scrambles back up the wall to sit properly next to her.]

Tabby Mom knows all about the city?

[maybe she'll sit more like a person too, then. Moving to where she's no longer perching, plopping down so her feet dangle over the edge]

Yep. All about it. Only reason I'm-- [oh, ha. almost said 'still alive'] --still around.

[he absently picks at a new scabbed-over scratch on his face. his bandages could use a change, and his fingers are getting kind of smudgey. but he, like usual, doesn't notice. he's busy thinking.]

If she doesn't get in trouble... Monster won't get in trouble... Hrmm, Monster doesn't think the voices know about monsters and tabbies like he does. That's good...

[she absentmindedly goes to swat his hand away from his face-- her attention actually on watching the street. she's listening to him, but... following what the hell he's talking about gets harder when she's a little distracted]

Huh? What voices?

[he fidgets a little when his hand gets swatted away, but he goes right into pointing at some of the people passing by. his face is no longer shifting.]

The people. The fleshy ones, uhm...

[she hopes the fact that his face is acting solid now is a good thing. It's less creepy, anyway.]

Oh.

[...a bit of a snort] 'Voices' is probably the last thing I'd call them.

What does Tabby call them...?

[he ends up sticking that finger in his mouth. at least he can't chew on it, I guess.]

Wastes of space? Losers? Pricks and motherfuckers?

Tabby Mom does not like them.

[noted. kicking his heels back and forth against the wall.]

Yeah, well. They don't deserve to be liked.

[and, yeah. hey. she points at Monster as the thought builds]

--And that's what you need to learn first about the city, and all the shitheads in it.

[he smiles a little, wobbling back and forth while he hums something in his head (that... she can hear, since he thinks in other people's brains and all). then he manages, sounding a little like it's rehearsed...]

Humans are trash. They will act without remorse~ And so we do before they do unto us, because the ones bound in flesh are but lambs and there's enough to go around.

[he looks very pleased when he finishes that little blurb, there.]

[first, she looks the kind of surprised that might be a little like impressed. But then, as Monster goes on, something abruptly changes. Like she recognizes this.

She's fixing him with a very sharp look, all of the sudden]

...Where the fuck did you get something like that?

That's what He says. Mrrm, Monster's Dad. He always says things like that.

[he looks at Tabby, then... reaches up to try patting her hair.]

Monster doesn't know if it's true. Monster has only met the little ones! They are nice to him, so he does not mind them very much.

[but then he looks away, frowning a little.]

The big ones taste really good, though.

[she's still a little unsettled--something to think about later, maybe--but Monster manages to reassure her quite a bit otherwise. Something about the the hair-patting, and seeming like he really isn't as indoctrinated as he sounded for a second there, and... well, she really can't argue with that last part.]

They're just... useless. And dangerous. So... no eating anybody here, since you have a choice about it.

'Kaaay.

[he stretches. Monster is a good monster and won't eat anyone. C:]

[well, at least he's good about listening.]

Hey, you wanna go explore some more?

[now that... y'know... he has bones]

Mm, okay!

[he seems much more okay about this now!]

Where are we going, Tabby Mom?

[awesome, maybe she won't get her hair pulled this time]

I dunno. That's why it's called exploring.

[standing up on the wall, she stretches]

Ex-plor-ing~! ♪

[he hops up and clambers his way up her side and onto her back. his clinging is quite effective.]

Jesus--!

[she wasn't expecting to be climbed while standing on a wall. He's not exactly the heaviest thing ever, but he still almost throws off her balance and makes them both fall. Thankfully, she manages to save them with a little bit of flailing]

...Warn me the next time you're going to do that.

[and then, once she's sure she can do so without landing on her face, she'll hop back down to the street with her little monster backpack]
