[the night is young, the city is full of oddities, and there is a Monster sitting on Tabby's shoulders, clinging to her head like he's afraid he'll fall off. he also does his best to hide behind her hair when someone passes by, looking at everyone like they've got lobsters crawling out of their ears.

Can you actually carry stuff?

[one of the straps under her arm undoes itself and... gets sucked up into the form of the backpack. from there, the backpack unzips itself at the top and--ta-da! one of Monster's arms pokes out and waves at Tabby.]

Monster can carry things~!

[ahaha-- like a dog chasing its tail, she does a full spin while trying to see him better, before she catches herself]

[he tries to pat her hair... but he doesn't have eyes, so he kind of misses and gets her ear before he's able to give her a proper hair-pat.]

[she swats at his hand, like it's a bug buzzing in her ear.

And then... yeah. She needs to figure this out. She goes to shuck him off her shoulders so she can set him on the ground and get a proper look at what the hell is going on here]

[the arm retreats back into the bag, and the second shoulder strap re-appears. the zipper stays unzipped, though. just a harmless backpack! except for all the bottomless darkness inside.]

[he makes a pretty convincing backpack. hmm.


...she only thinks about it for a minute, before she decides to pick up a few slushy pebbles from the curb and drop them in.]

[they just. disappear. no hitting the bottom or anything, they just vanish.]

[nope. they just... disappear. there's a little Monster voice back there somewhere, though.]

[hmm! ...Again, she only thinks about it for a minute-- eyeing the mouth of the backpack suspiciously, and then looking at her own hand.


verrry slowly, she'll start to dangle her fingers into the black...]

[the giggling continues, drifting off into slight background noise. it's not particularly cold or warm or... anything, really, but there is a slight tugging sensation. kind of like a tiny vacuum.]

[Tabby is a master of survival and self-preservation... so she sticks her whole hand in!]

[she retrieves her hand so she can drop a larger rock in-- really listening for it to hit the bottom, this time]

Monster does not know how much can go in. Maybe he will get full eventually.

[there's no drop from the larger rock. it just disappears.]

[...gfdjk she picks him up and kind of shakes him up and down! listening for rocks or anything clunking together]

[...he sounds about like any kid would if you picked them up and shook them a little. but besides that filling up her head, there's a very soft, light sort of clunking noise in there. ...might be the rocks. it's about a rock-sized sound.]

[...man, she hopes that's the rocks, and not... like... his brain or something.]

Hmmm. I need something that jingles.

[...oh, of course-- keys.

In go the keys to her room! And she tries the shaking test over again]

Monster is getting dizzy...
