[you know what? not a big fan of getting rained on. some people find this kind of thing romantic, but his light squelching into the entrance of the cave really doesn't set the mood for him. the storm set in so quickly and aggressively that he didn't even get a chance to get back to his ship before the threat of being struck by lightning was suddenly a thing--and he's not really into that, either.

so here he is. a couple of steps in and he's preoccupied with trying to fix his wet-down hair. a couple more steps, and he realizes he's not alone. the observation comes too late, as he's suddenly looking down at someone he hasn't really seen in a long time.]

...Nel?

[somewhere in unspecified time and space, a call has been made.

Robin's hanging out at his place, leaning back against the table, looking idly over the instructions on the back of a large box. "Twister". someone explained how to play this game to him while he was drunk at a bar a few nights ago, and said it was the "best thing ever"--but he thinks their explanation had more stripteasing and body shots than the box is really bothering to tell about.

anyway. he called his friends over so they could give it a try, and here you are.]

[there's nothing good he can say about this situation. nothing good at all.

he's waiting outside his ship. he's called him and asked him to meet him halfway again. here goes nothing. ripping off the bandage, diving into the cold pool. he feels really sick for thinking it was easier when he killed him, the first time.]

The ironic part about all of this is that Robin actually thought he was doing pretty well. Nel was already making leaps and bounds. Rin was going to be his friend, even if she was shaky on the whole servant thing. That's why he was holed up in their room, reading, instead of running damage control outside.

He is... unsuspecting.

Back from a trip to the abyss, and things have already settled back into normality. It's so strange how whole years will just slip away like old blankets and discarded gloves as soon as the surroundings are different.

It's actually kind of... jarring. The most interesting thing today? The sound of crying coming from the kitchen. He'd only meant to go in to get a sandwich or something but, well, if someone's having a dramatic breakdown, who is he to ignore it? Or something.

Whatever. He'll just go take a look. Maybe it'll be interesting.

Robin wakes up long before Nel does. He leaves the bed to empty the bath and take a quick shower himself, returning dried and clothed before his companion has so much as budged. He crawls over to him again to revel in his find, delight in how he looks now that he's clean. It's silly to be so happy over such a little scrap of a person like this, but he can't help it. Now that he's his, he can't help but take pride in him.

Not that Nel knows he belongs to Robin now... He wonders if his previous owner is even concerned. A pity, to waste such a nice thing on people as low and tasteless as them.

He lays there, perfectly content, moving strands of hair away from his eyes, glad that he can touch him again. He's making a mental checklist--still much too thin, too sickly--of all the things they will need to improve. He has some contacts to make and some arrangements to see to. That paper bag won't last forever.

It's nice to have a project, even if he knows he'll regret it later.

Getting him back was easy after the ordeal in the other car. Robin basically just slings the elf over his shoulder and walks the short way to his club, like carrying an unconscious person around is a perfectly normal and semi-fashionable thing to do.

Which, to be fair, it might be. Around here, anyway.

The club itself is this little place tucked up between some other crumbling buildings, in about as good a shape as anything you'll find around there. The inside is in various stages of being-built and down-for-the-day, not that Nel will be conscious to see any of it. Robin heads straight upstairs, where the dressing rooms are. There are two doors just for him--technically both offices by name, though one contains actual work and the other is more a resting place where the only "work" he does is of a more physical nature.

Nel gets brought to that one. It's plain, still--a little room with a bed and a desk and a chair and a small separate room for bath and sink--but he's gathered up a few things. There's a pile of papers her and there, a couple of books, odd trinkets that Robin has collected in the living tunnels... The bed is nowhere near as lavish as Tek's, of course, but it's still covered in blankets and pillows enough to be considered soft and comfortable.

That's where Nel will wake up. Robin didn't bother showering or anything like that. He's still got a hole right through his clothes where he was shot. What was more important to him was curling up next to Nel and wrapping a protective arm around him so that he can feel when he wakes up.

Nevermind that he fell asleep pretty soon himself. Sleeping next to people always does that.
