[aaand it's another day out in the city. mostly doing some field research, checking on some contacts, dragging up loose ends, trying to see if Tabby's finally stopped smashing in shop windows for CDs that no one has, that sort of stuff. he's sticking to the less... refined parts of down. the rich folk aren't his business today.

but that also means he's kind of bored and essentially wandering--since order isn't really his style. he's keeping an eye out, kind of hoping for trouble or something interesting to come popping out of the crowd at him.]

[ It's bright. It's really bright. So bright that everywhere he looks he feels stunned by what he sees, everything here looks so different from what he is used to. Even the people.

...He isn't sure he likes it. Crowds have always made him as uneasy.

Michael shrinks, backing away from the sea of people until he smacks into someone's legs. Whoops. ]

this would be the perfect example of a double-take. first he sees a kid, then he sees a kid he recognizes, and then there's that frantic moment where he can't really remember where he recognizes him from.

[slukhtis]

[ Michael jerks away, as if the contact shocks him, eyes wide as saucers. He shakes his head quickly, denial far too quick, thinking this guy is obviously someone he stole from here to exact his revenge. He likes his hands, he wants them to stay where they are. ]

[oh, he knows that look. he shoves his furious mental processing aside for a moment; this is a kid, first and foremost, and some other part of him automatically takes over. he shows him his hands.]

No, no. It's fine, you're not in trouble.

[ He's wary, understandably, peering at Robin's hands. No weapons. That's good... he gets to keep his hands. Does't make it any easier for him to distinguish if this guy is friend or foe. ]

Really? [ Yeah, enjoy that younger hella younger sound voice of your bro there. ]

[that is so bizarre, bro. he tilts his head a little.]

[ He pulls a face, that question is obviously stupid. ]

[ Well, Michael certainly thinks this guy is a little weird. But he isn't here to take his hands or take him away, he hopes, so he can't be all that bad. ]

No. [ Despite his protest it is pretty obvious that he is. ]

[ CURSE YOU TALLER MAN! You ruined his non-existent plan!!!

[he leans down to be more Michael's height!]

[ Blink. ] Is it full of skeletons? [ His home was nicknamed after the crazy amounts of street kids there are about, most abandoned or orphaned. ]

--Hey. [ No! Stop! He pulls a face and tries to smack Robin's hand away. Don't do thhhaaaaaat. ]

[he pulls his hand away... and then tries it again.]

Ha, you could use a haircut. [as usual.]

[slukhtis]

[ He pulls away from him, hands going up to protect his head. And no, he is not pouting. Jerkity jerk. ]

What? [well, that stops him. he has to run a hand through his own hair. D:] My hair's great.

[ignoring the fact that their hair probably looks practically the same. :|]

Hey, better topic. How old are you?

[slukhtis]

How old? [ He blinks a little slowly before looking down at his hands. He starts counting fingers, screwing up his nose a little as he goes along. One, two, three... what is after three again? Oh right, four... nine. After a moment he holds up both hands with his fingers extended. ]

This plus two. [ A beat. ] I think.

Huh. [he looks... suitably impressed! not bad for a street rat.] That's pretty good. You must be tough.

[slukhtis]

[ Damn straight he is smart! Only he's not really. He's pretty dumb. ]
