yo this is a story all about how my life got consumed by nano characters for a month.

[It had only been a day out of her world, and Rill was already missing Thear. She didn't know where she was, how she got here, how to get home- and what worse, she was in company she hardly knew how to deal with. Even if she had trained to be a time mage, one who dealt in matters of other worlds, she had been scarcely been around other races than the elves. She didn't have the slightest idea what to expect out of this...well, this Daniel character she seemed to be stuck with.]

[But scared as she was, Rill wasn't about to let that show. She had to prove she was capable of handling dire situations such as this. So she spent the day acting as collected and strong as she could (which was probably more stiff and pompous if anything). It's not until she notices something very different about the light in the sky, does any of her panic start to show]

- The sun's falling!

[if his sudden "partner" in this adventure has been mostly stiff and pompous, Daniel has been just the opposite--spineless and kind of mopey. the only thing that's saved him is his apparent willingness to follow orders and set about whatever task is in front of them with little more than a spacey look on his face. to be completely honest, after spending a day with him, it's a little unclear whether he is actually sad, or if that's just the way his facial expression lands by default. maybe he's broken. one of his obviously metal arms has done nothing but hang unresponsive at his side and occasionally make a strange clicking noise. it wouldn't be a stretch to say that other things are malfunctioning too.

all that aside, he turns back to see where her panic is coming from, slowly gazing up and squinting into the remains of the sun. there's a pause while he tries to figure out what she's talking about. he doesn't get it. it's sinking past the horizon at a perfectly predictable rate.]

...No, it's not.

[Whether or not he was broken, she wouldn't be able to tell. Going into the human enclaves had been forbidden by her family. The few times she ever did catch of a glimpse (usually, during moments of giving into a peer pressure to break rules) - it had nothing like what...whatever he was supposed to be.]

[Then again, maybe there is something wrong with him if he can't tell something so obvious]

Yes it is! It's getting lower and lower in the sky with no aid at all - that must mean it's falling.

[hoborobo]

[he... tilts his head. a lot of things that she says don't make any sense to him, but he's only got a vague recollection of who he is and why his insides are made of metal, so he normally doesn't have much room to judge. this, though...]

No, it's setting. This sun is just... following its orbit.

[rill]

[And that statement...utterly confuses her. it sounds like some sort of explanation, but it doesn't sound like anything she's used to hearing about the sun. The sun was taken down by the sun god, so the goddess of the moon could bring the night. That's how it worked - otherwise the day and night would never change.]

Its what?

It's...

[god now they're both just confused. he stops squinting at the sun while the sky turns red and purple around them, bringing his one good arm up so that he can try to gesture his way through an explanation.]

It's moving in a circle. It looks like it's going down because it's moving to the other side of the planet, where we can't see it. It'll be... fine.

[rill]

Ho-

[She stops from asking how that was possible, even if it did seem so impossible. How could the sun move in a circle on it's own? What kind of power would that need to happen? There were so many unanswered questions about this that she wants explained]

[But she stops herself. She wasn't a Sun Mage. It wasn't her place to know. Instead she wrings her hands, as if that'll be enough to stave off the curiosity]

- Truly? There's nothing wrong?

[That's a safe enough question, isn't it?]

[he nods with the same, slightly disheartened look he gives everything. after a moment of further thought, he holds out his metal arm towards her. you know, if she wants to hold his hand or anything.]

We can go sit and wait, if you want. It's... [what's the word? what do people call it? when something is... colors... and... positive association... and serotonin increase...] ...pretty.
