Accord // Canon

Robin has been doing a respectable job of keeping himself entertained. Between his occupation, his managing jobs, his keeping Tabby out of trouble (with only moderate success), his various growing and sometimes needlessly complicated hobbies... Well, he's been alive for a long time. He knows how to stay busy enough to keep time moving until something fun shows up.

But after one two many days of looking at stacks of papers and staring at crime maps and getting fed up with how he can't find the one thing he's looking for in his books, he drops everything and hops onto the next tram to come his way. He waltzes into the tower, ignores the lobby, walks up the stairs, opens Tek's door, and then thoroughly ignores everything in favor of flopping dramatically forward onto his bed.

And then he just lies there.

He didn't even close the door behind him.

He glances up for just a moment, looking over from his desk and the book he's involved in long enough to see who it is and what their destination is.

...It's apparently only worth a second or two of his attention. His eyes are back down on the pages before Robin even hits the pillows.

And it's many seconds after that before he finally speaks.

"...Something wrong, dear?"

That's fine. He could probably lie there for the rest of the day, were he not given any other incentive, even if that was not the original plan.

It's a damn comfy bed.

But there is a problem, and Tek's asked exactly what he was supposed to, so he indulges with a childish groan.

"I'm so bored."

Face still buried in pillows, of course. It may be the only way that his whiny tone is bearable.

He makes a little acknowledging noise--maybe agreeing, maybe just patronizing. Then there is the sound of a page turning, followed up by more silence. He settles into this one.

And it is an impressive stretch of silence... before his annoyance finally rises up enough to push his patience aside.

There's a little sigh.

"...You could have at least shut the door."

He grunts something noncommittal and apathetic to his plight. He even lazily twirls his finger around in the air a little, as if he'd meant to use some magic to close it.

That magic, of course, does not exist. At least, not without significantly more effort. And, as such, if can be determined that he's really just being a brat about it.

So no. He's not going to go shut the door.

There's a little tap-tap-tap sound. Probably a lacquered nail rapping impatiently on the desk while he decides how much the open door really bothers him. And then there is the slight creak of his chair, probably from him giving up and standing to go shut it himself.

...Or, it could be because he's shifted his weight so he can lob a book in Robin's direction--perfectly arced to avoid running into any pillows that might be propped in the way.

At least he's not aiming for his face.

"Ow...!"

That one is easier to understand.

Lobbing things at him is generally a pretty good method. After a belabored pause, he rolls his useless carcass over and tosses the poor book off the bed somewhere.

"Yeah, yeah."

Frowning, he bites on one of his fingers until it bleeds and lobs his hand lazily in the direction of the entrance. A helpful tendril, eventually stretched wire thin, reaches across the room to helpfully pull and nudge the door shut.

And then it snakes back, retreating back into a slightly thicker mass and absently going--presumably--back into the wound.

Robin seems bored by this, still.

A minute after that, there is a halfway-irritated sigh that most definitely means that Tek can't decide whether he even wants to ask what just happened there or not. Of course Robin would opt for something complicated and unsettling instead of just standing up and using his own two legs to walk over there.

He does, however, want to make damn sure that what seemed suspiciously like blood didn't end up on on his sheets.

So, obviously unhappy about this turn of events, he finally shoves himself up to his feet and makes his weary way over. He'll sit on the edge of the bed for now... and just look as inconvenienced as possible. Even if Robin doesn't look to see the expression, he can probably feel it.

He does look up at Tek, though he hardly needs to guess what his expression is. He manages to keep a straight face himself, even if there is something very thoroughly satisfying about getting him to look that inconvenienced.

"...you wanted me to shut the door."

It's true. The blood's almost all spooled back up into his finger, now.

There's just the tiniest shift of his expression as he tries not to make a face. It's difficult, though. Especially that close to his pillows.

"...What do you want."

There it goes--all soaked up and sealing up like it never happened.

"I'm bored," he repeats, like that wasn't obvious the first time.

...He finally gives up and just looks plainly disgusted, at that. Now that his sheets are safe, he feels better about showing his opinions about Robin's abilities.

He thinks it's gross.

"And you expect me to do something about it?"

He'd be used to it if he showed that sort of thing to more people; instead he just expects it and charges through, settling down more comfortably against the cushions and blankets and putting on a charming, subtly smug smile.

"Yes. I do."

It doesn't matter at all that Tek happens to be exceedingly bored as well. All that matters is that self-satisfied little smile on Robin's face, which has Tek's disgusted look clearing for an unimpressed one.

"And why is that, exactly?"

"Because you have good taste in entertainment, and you're just as bored as I am."

He tilts his head a little, goes for alluring. Maybe he's just trying to see how many different kinds of "you know you want to" he can express before Tek gets completely fed up with it.

He crosses his arms, but his expression is maybe a little less unforgiving now.

"I'm not your babysitter, you know."

Which, of course, is neither confirming nor denying anything. He still had yet to decide how much he's going to cooperate today.

...He's probably waiting to be convinced. It's one of those days.

"Hm."

He thinks on that one for a minute. Perhaps Tek has a point, or so his pause of contemplative silence seems to say. But, shortly after, he raises up his hands and pulls himself up until he's wrapped his arms around Tek's shoulders, draping off him shamelessly.

"Of course not. You're my sweetheart. ♥"

He's caught between surprised, a little repulsed, and quite hilariously pleased. It all amounts to a wide sneer, and he braces a set of fingertips in the center of Robin's chest to push him backwards with.

He's maybe still a little irritated, but it's the light sort. Robin's at least earned something for his efforts.

"I wouldn't go that far... but if you're really that bored, I'm sure we can find something to keep ourselves occupied with."

Oh, he falls back away without a fight. He's got all he's wanted, at relatively little injury to himself. He plops onto the cushions again, quite comfy with the arrangement.

"Two people often have more fun than just one."

Now his smile is less smug and more genuine, carefree. He picks at his bangs, separating out the white strands, already happier for how things are going.

"I've got ideas, but none of them sound very good. Anything come to mind for you?"

And whatever it is that Tek measures, ends up balancing out enough to let him slink off the edge of the bed and slide into the pillows. Still propped mostly upright, but at least more comfortable now.

"I suppose it depends on what sort of thing you're in the mood for."

He folds his arms behind his head. He'd been bored, but he's in no hurry. This is already better.

He has to give him a look first, accompanied with a familiar little smirk. He doesn't say anything, but it's implied. As usual.

But ah, what to actually do. He rolls his eyes away.

"Something interesting? I don't know if I want to go far, either..."

And a little shrug. "But I can be convinced."

"Interesting, hmm? ...So, not necessarily exciting?"

It'd be easier if those two attributes weren't expected to be a package deal--that was something that didn't exactly sit around in abundance, here.

He bounces his foot as he thinks before gesturing off wherever that poor book had landed.

"Well I think that brushing up on griffin vocabulary is interesting, but I doubt that's what you had in mind."

"Not necessarily exciting."

He rolls over onto his stomach again , resting his head on his arms.

"But that sounds boring. What's a griffon?"

"They're these creatures that look a little like someone stitched together a bird of prey and some other animal--like jungle cat or a wolf or something--which makes learning their language hilariously difficult, especially from a book."

He moves one of his arms from behind his head so he can gesture to indicate the tower and surrounding world as a whole.

"And they don't seem to have them here, which makes the fact that the library has books from--"

And he stops. Suddenly, his arm drops and eyes widen as an idea visibly hits him out of nowhere.

"--Oh."

Robin is almost immediately consumed with visualizing this mysterious creature. Tek can see him trying to imagine--holding out his hands to something vaguely the size of an eagle and then shaping a round head. From the way he's squinting, it's clear that they sound pretty much ridiculous.

...But his attention is grabbed back when Tek gets an idea. He stares at him for a couple of beats, expecting some kind of a follow-up to that sudden look of realization.

"...what?"

And Robin gets to wait another minute, while Tek double-checks his own idea and runs it through his mind a couple of times, refining it and deciding whether it's really as good of a thought as he thinks it is.

He eventually decides that it is, and gives Robin an abrupt grin before he nimbly rolls back out of bed.

Once on his feet, he offers him a hand.

"Come on, I have an idea. And you don't even have to go far."
