While Irahl is no stranger to wreckage and rubble of the conventional sort, and had more recently spent time in some other pretty abysmal salvaged tunnels, (plus the stint in rusted-out hulls in space,) this place is something else. It's only the impulse to keep a constant eye out for threats that prevents him from diverting his attention to root around in his gear bag for his mask.
He's still planning on retrieving it whenever they do stop though, because that thing has a built-in breathing filter that seems pretty key down here. Especially if he doesn't want to cough while aiming an extremely sensitive rifle.
All of his hesitations and discomforts are kept thoroughly hidden, of course. So, he's pretty quick to respond when there's a question sent his way.
