This level of camaraderie--interacting sort of laterally at the expense of their mutual friend--is apparently comfortable enough for Irahl to float around on the surface nearby without any signs of stress. He's letting his scales show, he's not subtly clamming up or acting avoidant, and there's a successful back-and-forth going on. He even takes on a correcting tone in Robin's direction.
