With a look like that from a man as dangerous as Irahl, what he should really do is completely disengage, not give him anything to feed off of, maybe as a show that he doesn't mean trouble.

The worst thing would be to fight him, and give him a real reason to move his hands to his throat. The temptation is very, very strong.

Instead, what ends up happening is that he grabs the other man's shoulders back. It's half to try to steady himself on something as his body is suddenly sent backwards in a totally different direction, but it ends up being sort of a mirroring of the action as he holds on, keeping them both together there.
