Vincent can't see it, but it's very easy to imagine that Irahl is turning to look back at his rifle leaning against the wall during the pause that follows, considering. Showing off intentionally by letting others get close to his most prized possession is not something that he makes a habit of doing. Aside from the short window when it had been a brand-new novelty in his life, others have generally had to do their admiring at a distance.
This is a special occasion, though. If one thing has been proven, it's that the rules of normalcy simply don't apply to anything today.
