pileofspirits: (magic trick)

Phalanx doesn't seem to be thinking too hard about what they're doing either. Being disturbed from their place on the ground automatically gets them moving, aimlessly reaching, and being brought toward something much more actively comforting than a cold tile floor gets them pulling themselves toward it. Soon, the whole bundle of rags and bones is in Vincent's arms, and Phalanx is hanging onto him like a koala.

And things get quieter almost immediately. As universal as Phalanx's crying had been, there's something just as universal as surrounding, comforting arms. Phalanx clings onto it, and their very next breaths start to even out, shaking with relief.
