[Tonic does get distracted by the windows once or twice, always surprised to see a sky outside instead of yellow bulbs or a cave wall. but he never stares at them for too long, always much more interested in hiding here, and staring at his beautiful guide instead.
he asks him about a lot of things. he asks him to describe the ocean some more, and then asks about the sky, and then about mountains, and then he just wants to hear Tek tell stories about interesting places that he's seen. it's funny, he's so happy just watching the other speak, the both of them nestled comfortably in this familiar place, that he forgets to be paranoid for once. he just enjoys being there, filled with the unfamiliar thought that if tonight was his last night alive, at least he could die happy.
maybe that's why he doesn't notice someone noticing him, and then leaving fifteen or twenty minutes later... but it's probably fine. nothing to worry about. maybe someone just had other things they needed to get to.
eventually, they finally have to give up and get going, especially if Tonic wants to make it out to some other places before dark. he still has something he was promised, after all, which he reminds Tek of as they leave the cafe. he slips an arm around the other's waist, ducking his head near his shoulder with a smirk (though it's mostly to keep from looking up again).]
So, darling, in exchange for you doing such a thorough job of ruining normal food for me for the rest of my natural life... There's a shop up here I'd like to find. They sell some herbs that are hard to find downstairs.
