[yeah, if there had been some suspicion of being stalked, it definitely fades with that little wall trick. the rest of the city--the whole noisy, looming, threatening unfamiliarity of it--can take over in occupying the stranger's attention. their pace begins to slow a few blocks down, though it's due to growing caution instead of calm.
